What if a group of teenagers were offered an opportunity to solve a murder mystery?

That's the personal mission of Octavia Vintara, a high school teacher who hopes to deter her shoplifting cousin and other first time offenders from a permanent life of crime by offering them the challenge of solving a mystery. Octavia's father, Police Lieutenant Gordon Vintara, who recently returned to work after being injured while on duty, is assigned a desk job: to reopen cold murder cases. Together, they involve Octavia's class in the details of a thirty-year old murder, hoping to inspire the teens as they attempt to solve the mystery that involves a neglected boy.
